Criado em um estúdio de dança onde sapateava, desde criança era apaixonado por bateria e percussão. Ele fez uma transição aos 12 anos entre a percussão dos pés e finalmente encontrou seu caminho na percussão com as mãos. Seu profundo amor pela música e cultura brasileira, o levou a colaborações incomuns, tanto nos EUA como no Brasil. Com a criação de um rótulo de gravação chamado “Tension Rod” www.rittenhousesoundworks.com em 2012, ele mudou seu estúdio de gravação para o que é agora o Rittenhouse Soundworks (Philadelphia. PA), uma instalação de gravação de última geração para filmes e som. Projetos recentes incluem The Patch Ensemble, Trio Globo, The Prism Saxophone Quartet e The Pandeiro Repique Duo Mais. Tocou no Festival de Jazz de Montreal em 2002 com várias aparições nos Grammy Awards com Boyz II Men em 95 e 96. Ele percorreu extensivamente na Europa e no Japão com Ursula Rucker e Sound Sculptor e guitarrista, Tim Motzer, com quem Jim registrou 3 Álbuns sob o nome Global Illage. Jim é um baterista e percussionista, desenvolveu uma linguagem própria de fundir movimento e som, havendo sincronia nas linguagens. É um artista performático que trabalha no cenário da musica, dança, teatro, colaborando para que tudo se transforme em suas mãos e pés!
